Today some of Members from Safe Haven Foundation visited Antonia Verna Rehabilitation Centre in Kinondoni District, Dar es Salaam to help the Centre, as there are 600 patients undergoing Rehabilitation.

Out of 600 patients, 400 patients are from Kinondoni District and age groups of 10 – 19 years. They all require regular therapy.

The Antonia Verna Rehabilitation Centre focuses on Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy as well as Psychotherapy. Most of these patients are of cerebral palsy, autism and mental disorders. They’re taking care of these patients because a lot of people tend to have a stigma about children with disabilities.

This is a key population left ignored and even on SRH issues.

The Safe Haven Foundation aims to help them but also to give education on SRH, because most people with disabilities tend to be the victims of Sexual Violence and Abuse.
